Traditionally associated with calm, intuition and spiritual connection.
Amethyst is perhaps the most recognised crystal in the world. A violet quartz coloured by trace iron and natural irradiation, it forms slowly within volcanic cavities over millions of years — the deep purple deepening toward the crown of the geode where crystal growth is densest.
Our amethyst comes mainly from Brazil, which, with Uruguay, is one of the two sources most respected in the trade for colour. Brazilian pieces often grow large, forming the great cathedral geodes that stand as floor pieces.
Within crystal tradition
Amethyst is long associated with spiritual protection, intuition and a settled mind. It is connected with the third eye and crown chakras, and is often placed in bedrooms, meditation spaces and areas intended for rest and reflection.
Traditionally it is described as calming the mind and supporting clarity, wisdom and insight. These associations reflect long-standing belief rather than proven or medical effects.
Caring for amethyst
Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, as violet colour can fade over years of exposure. Dust with a soft dry brush. Large geodes should be placed on a stable, level surface.
