Carved crystals hold a special place in collecting. Every skull and dragon in this collection is hand-carved by skilled artisans from a single piece of natural stone and finished by hand, so no two are ever identical. The colour, banding and inclusions of the stone fall differently across every carving, which is what gives each piece its own character.
Crystal skulls
Skulls have been carved from stone across many cultures, and in crystal tradition they are associated with wisdom, memory and reflection. Today they are among the most collected crystal carvings, prized as display pieces and conversation pieces as much as for their meaning.
Our crystal skulls include clear quartz skulls, amethyst skulls, citrine skulls and pieces in less common stones such as ruby in matrix and ocean jasper. Sizes range from desk-sized skulls of under a kilogram to large statement skulls of several kilograms, and each listing gives the exact weight.
Crystal dragons
Dragons are traditional symbols of strength, guardianship and good fortune in many cultures. Carved dragons and dragon heads are technically demanding to produce because of their fine detail such as horns, scales and teeth, so well-carved examples are especially sought after by collectors.
Choosing a carving
- Stone: clear quartz shows internal veils and rainbows, amethyst gives deep purple tones, and jasper and ruby in matrix offer bold patterns.
- Size: check the listed weight; skulls over 2kg make strong centrepieces.
- Finish: some carvings are fully polished, others keep natural druzy crystal for texture.
Caring for crystal carvings
Dust with a soft, dry brush, especially around carved detail. Keep amethyst and citrine out of strong, prolonged sunlight, and protect softer stones from knocks.
